What is NEIGHBORING?
NEIGHBORING is a private, non-profit, community-based outpatient organization dedicated to empowering adults with mental illness and substance use disorders to live, learn, work and participate fully in family and community. We provide a variety of Services and Programs to achieve this goal. We have been providing services since 1969.
Do I have to live in Lake County to receive NEIGHBORING's services?
Persons that do not have Medicaid coverage and would like to access our sliding scale fee (in which the service fee charged to the patient is based on a person’s income level) must be a Lake County resident. Only Lake County residents are eligible for the subsidy funds provided by the Lake ADAMHS Board funds.
Consumers that do have Medicaid coverage are eligible to seek health care, including behavioral health, from any provider in Ohio that has a Medicaid provider agreement. NEIGHBORING is a Medicaid provider of community behavioral health services and eligible to receive Medicaid reimbursement for services delivered regardless of the patient's Ohio County of residence.
Can anyone receive services at NEIGHBORING?
NEIGHBORING serves adults age 18 and over who are trying to cope with the challenges of a mental illness. Specifically, NEIGHBORING is here to provide quality mental health and dual diagnosis services to Lake County residents. Many of our clients have a limited income and/or no health insurance. Many of the individuals we serve have health care coverage from Medicaid or Medicare, have private insurance that does not adequately cover mental health or have no health insurance. NEIGHBORING does accept self payment from patients.
NEIGHBORING is not certified to provide behavioral health services to anyone under the age of 18 years. We can help facilitate referrals to other providers.
How is NEIGHBORING compensated for services? Who are the major providers of funds?
- Lake County Alcohol and Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board
- United Way of Lake County
- Medicaid, Medicare & Title XX (Title XX is federal assistance for low income persons)
- Private Health Insurance
- Lake County Board of County Commissioners
- Lake County Sheriff
- Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR)
- Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services
- NEIGHBORING sponsored fundraisers
- Consumer Self-Pay (Services are available and accessible to persons regardless of financial status. A fee is charged for each service based on a sliding scale.)
What fees does NEIGHBORING charge?
All Lake County residents are eligible for our sliding fee scale in which the fees that are charged are based on the level of an individual's income. At the time an individual has their initial intake at our agency, he or she will meet with an Intake Specialist who will review the applicant's financial information and determine the level of payment, if any, that the client would be responsible for themselves.
Can I just walk in to receive services?
Refer to Walk-In Procedure. The walk-in intake process allows any person interested in coming to NEIGHBORING for services to come in and receive an intake assessment that same day. Because all walk-in intake assessments are on a first-come, first served basis, it is recommended that you arrive as early as possible. Our walk-in hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Mondays, and 9:00 until 2:30 on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
How do I get to NEIGHBORING?
